Connecting our Members:
Asian American Business Expo
The Asian American Business Expo brings together minority-owned businesses, corporations and business leaders to strengthen professional networks and build stronger ties within the Asian American & Pacific Islander business communities. Expected attendance is over 1000 guests which includes public policy-makers, business owners, and VIP leaders in the minority community. With last year’s inaugural launch becoming a historic milestone in the Vietnamese American and Korean American communities, we are expanding efforts in 2013 to all AAPI groups in California.
Lunar New Year Celebration
A special celebration hosted by VIET Foundation rings in the New Year with our members and corporate friends.
Passing the Baton to the Next Generation:
Mentor/Protégé Professional Development Program
This program addresses the need to assist the next generation of Vietnamese and Asian American professionals in developing a more robust resume and skills that are marketable in the workforce. We offer both internships at member offices and volunteer shadowing opportunities where students are partnered with small businesses to learn a trade or industry.
Creating Job Opportunities:
In an anemic economy where young people hit a 20% unemployment rate and our nation had a 10% unemployment rate at the peak of the recession, we decided to be proactive and address the needs in our local community by inviting corporations and their HR departments to host workforce development workshops and provide job opportunities for underserved communities.
Celebrating our Culture:
VIET Awards, Benefit Concert & Fashion Show
Our annual Benefit Concert & Fashion Show is a night where we celebrate business, culture, fashion and music. During our ceremony, we award an exclusive list of Vietnamese Americans who have improved the lives of our community and have made exemplary strides in commerce nationally.
Beyond that, this event helps subsidize programs for our very important and robust mission. The mission of VIET Foundation is to promote higher education in under-served communities, provide educational training to small businesses and provide programming for professional development and civic education. VIET Foundation has established a scholarship fund for students and ticket proceeds from this event will go directly into this scholarship fund.
Under the leadership of our board of directors, we established this fund to increase education around American exports and support American jobs by training the next generation of business leaders on creating sustainable enterprises that focus on this international trade market.
Providing a Voice:
Public Policy Roundtable- Washington, D.C.
Having a seat at the table to provide a voice for Vietnamese Americans throughout the country is one of our most important jobs through the VIET Foundation. Through our public policy forums and workshops, we educate policymakers, members and stakeholders about issues that affect underserved communities and The Vietnamese American community, while promoting the diversity of our country.
